Darts

Darts has been a key feature of club life for many years. The clubhouse is an ideal venue for darts playing – supporting a total of 13 boards if needed. The Darts section meet most Tuesday nights throughout the year (starting 8:30pm) in the form of:

Winter pairs competition (typically from October to April) open to any club members
Summer mixed pairs competition (June to September) – open to lady & man pairs of club members

After a keenly fought winter season, Jason and Mike (Curry) won the 2003–4 Winter League with 69 points against the runners-up of Monty and Mike (Copp) with 62 points. Presentation night saw 18 players enter the "blind pairs" knock out, with winners changing partners each round, and Jason and John emerging victorious! The presentation of the club trophies, and prizes for the winners and runners-up, ended another very sociable winter darts season.

Several of our players also take part in the local town leagues with great success.

We also try to host a major Open Darts competition each year in May – open to any players from the surrounding Counties. This year it was run on Sunday 2nd May 2004, when 74 players in the open singles, 44 pairs and 11 ladies battled it out over 6 hours for total prize money of £760. A substantial amount of money was raised for the club through the bar sales.
